SEL ON BIPOC WHEELS: BLACK TEACHERS/STAFF

Our SEL workshops take several forms and structures based on the needs and intended outcomes of each school. We recognize that to understand our present, we must acknowledge our past, and learn from it. Thus, we design racial affinity- SEL workshops. We seek to:
to provide a safe space filled with empathy and deep sense of belonging for black, brown, indigenous, and educators of color to speak their truths, feel valued, and culturally affirmed.

To correct the false narratives of victimizations of people of color
To disrupt the school-to-prison pipeline by increasing students of color’s self awareness, ability to cope appropriately with challenging emotions, and learning to navigate social dynamics.
To empower K12 educators of color to examine the persistent racial inequities and equip them with skills and tools to overcome them.
To provide a safe space for black, brown, indigenous, educators, and school administrators of color to receive social-emotional and professional support.

Additionally, all participants will learn strategies they can implement the next day in their classroom to transform their classrooms into trauma-informed learning environments.
