Dr. Coulibaly’s Values

Here are the core values that anchor my leadership and inform my work.

  • Joy

The work in K12 education is hard and complex. School leadership is an endless journey and is like traveling on roads under construction. However, we must find joy in the process of getting better by focusing on incremental progress, and celebrating every Aha moment we spark in the life of our students and educators.

  • Racial justice-centered and emancipatory education

We can no longer conduct business as usual in K12 education. We must not promote nor reproduce white supremacy, inequities, racist practices, traumatize BIPOC students and educators by dismissing, policing, erasing their voices, stories, and maintain a white dominant culture in our curricula, operational and social culture. We should reimagine education as liberatory, culturally affirming for all, inclusive, and personalized.

  • Authenticity

We should create a school environment where everyone’s best and authentic self is nurtured, valued, and appreciated. Only then, will we transform our school culture and climate.

  • Community

Inspired by my African values, there is no “I”. There is a “We”.  The “We” drives my work. The African philosophy and way of life,Ubuntuwhich means“I am am, because you are”, which translates in the Zulu language,Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”.
